Nick Magister A true black metal manifesto.
"The God With The Crying Mask" is a masterpiece.
The slow and heavy hermetic incipit of the ending track gives way to the fury and the solemnity of the outro takes the whole album to an higher level. Favorite track: The God With The Crying Mask.

about

“Mudness” is the band’s debut album and pushes the band’s vision of dark music to new levels and releases a manifesto of heaviness, depth & atmosphere everything into a magnificent Doomish Black Metal. With five long, complex and full of pathos songs, they create an opus of emotional sonorities ranging from different facets of music and firmly displaying OBSOLETE THEORY's broad range of influences like Behemoth, Agalloch, Katatonia, Solstafir, Alcest, Enslaved, Opeth with an already accomplished personality.
“Mudness” is a disc with an excellent quality of recording that gives everything a powerful and monolithic sound, thanks also to the Twilight Studio production in Senago, and the great mixing and mastering realised by Øystein G. Brun (BORKNAGAR) at the Crosound Studio in Bergen (Norway).
The great artwork cured by Jeff Grimal (The Great Old Ones) completes the great essence of “Mudness”.
